I have taken several sales courses on Udemy, and none reach the standard of Derek’s courses. He presents himself very well in the way he dresses, speaks and delivers the content. He created an instantly positive first impression on me by presenting himself physically well, having a good background and recording quality, and by delivering his point of difference straight away (that he works in a fortune 500 company as a sales trainer and director – that’s what I want to hear! I don’t want to learn sales from a kid, or professor who is too theoretical, but a working professional doing what he teachers right now).
I work as a sales professional and stylist in a high-end menswear clothing brand in Melbourne, Australia. Our products are priced highly and we get a very specific customer every time. Even though Derek works in B2B primarily, all the principles are directly transferable to B2C as well. I have had extensive sales training from my company, and I am mentored weekly by two professionals from real estate and national account management roles, and I am extremely impressed with Derek’s courses; they are concise, but contain huge value. The points he makes are specific and he gives direct examples and conversational examples. Other sales courses I find to be too general, leaving a lot to be desired and are quite elementary. Derek’s courses go ADVANCED. He starts with the basics, but takes it to advanced levels.
I highly recommend his courses for anyone in B2B OR B2C. You will find equal value regardless; B2B can really be broken down into several B2C transactions anyway; because at the end of the day, we are dealing with people in both situations.

“I’ve done a few sales courses on Udemy, and I am constantly trying to find the ones that actually teach implementable strategies that I can have confidence in. So far I like this course the best, even more than the top rated ones on Udemy.
They say first impression is everything and that was certainly evident here. Derek sold himself to me in the intro video within those crucial first few moments; something that many other courses have either not done, or done less effectively. Specifically, Derek was well dressed and presented, the background was nice and aesthetically pleasing, and within the first minute he presented his point of difference (on why I should learn from him) with brevity and clarity (and it made sense too, I was sold!). To top it off, his presence and general vibe came across as genuine and trustworthy – he wasn’t the cliché overly enthusiastic sales person, he was calm and humble, yet confident. I felt all this within the first 10-20 seconds of his introduction video and at the time I though to myself – sold; if this guy can make me feel so confident in him this fast (something no other Udemy sales instructor has done for me yet), then I want to hear what he has to teach.
The actual content lives up to expectation. Derek works in sales in a fortune 500 company as a sales trainer so you would expect nothing less. The videos are short and sweet; he presents a tip/technique/strategy, explains it, then gives examples on how to execute it. No overwhelming theory (which can end up stifling you), just explanation of the principle then how to execute it. The focus is primarily B2B, but there is absolutely value here that B2C sales professionals can take away too.
I get the most value from the example conversations you give in your lessons, my only suggestions is I’d like to see even more of those examples as this helps me understand how you would structure the sales process theory into a conversation.
